CUBS PUT UP NEW BIRD BOXES

On a freezing cold Sunday morning in February a number of Bicknacre cubs turned up with parents and leaders to Priory Fields to put up 27 nesting boxes that they had previously made at one of their meetings. These included a number of bird boxes,

some with holes and some open fronted and a number of bat boxes that were placed in groups to give the bats a choice depending on the prevailing weather conditions. These

boxes are additional to the ten made by the Scouts last year and the Guides and Brownies have also asked if they could make some, so we may shortly have some owl and dormouse boxes to add to the collection.

The Friends of Priory Fields are always keen to find new ways to engage the young people on the fields and this seems to achieve that end as they can return regularly to check on their box to see if it is being used.
